Founding Civics Institute

On June 2-4 the CRC will host Lee’s second Founding Civics Institute for regional teachers.

The Institute includes seminar-style discussions led by Lee University Political Science faculty, Drs. Tom Pope and Mark Scully, emphasizing primary source documents. Across three days and nine seminar-style discussions, participant will engage deeply with primary sources from the American Founding—exploring their philosophical foundations, historical context, and classroom relevance. The Institute will focus in on the Constitutional balance of power between Congress and the Presidency.

The Institute will provide the following resources:

  • Potential for up to nine Professional Development hours

  • Incorporate multiple state standards

  • Light breakfast, boxed lunch

  • $300 stipends

  • Books and other resources

Daily schedule:

8:30am-9:00am          Coffee and Bagels

9:00am -10:00am       Seminar Session 1

10:00am -10:15am      Coffee Break

10:30am -11:30 am     Seminar Session 2

11:45am -12:45pm      Boxed Lunch and Seminar Session 3
